Very rarely does one have such a tender bond with someone that it cannot be put into words or truly grasped; it is taciturn, as if non-existent, and yet it is there, but as fragile as a dream.

"Where dips the rocky highland
Of Sleuth Wood in the lake,
There lies a leafy island
Where flapping herons wake...
Come away, O human child!
To the waters and the wild
With a faery, hand in hand,
For the world's more full of weeping than you can understand."
-W. B. Yeats, "Stolen Child"

'Afar from our lawn and our levee,
O sister of sorrowful gaze!
Where the roses in scarlet are heavy
And dream of the end of their days,
You move in another dominion
And hang o'er the historied stone:
Unpruned in your beautiful pinion
Who wander and whisper alone.'

Gnomes (1976 Dutch/1977 English) written by Wil Huygen and beautifully illustrated throughout by Rien Poortvliet. A fascinating field guide to gnomes and similar beings. One of my childhood favorites.

Few humans see fairies or hear their music, but many find fairy rings of dark grass, scattered with toadstools, left by their dancing feet.

"Erl-King will do you grievous harm.

The Erl-King lives by himself all alone in the heart of the wood in a house which has only the one room. His house is made of sticks and stones and has grown a pelt of yellow lichen."

On November 13, 1872 #OTD Claude Monet painted "Impression, soleil levant" from his studio window in a single morning.

It depicts the port of Le Havre, France, and gave the Impressionist movement its name.

I was attracted by the mixture of leaves and foam spinning in the pool, so I put on the ND filter and took couple of long exposures. There was no wind at all and the atmosphere was completed by the thick fog 🤩

Tha Paris agreement is dead and buried.

What impact will this have on the negotiations in Belém at COP30?
