Our group at Max Planck Institute (MPI CPfS) studies paired and unpaired electrons that form energy bands with trivial or nontrivial topology.
Our new preprint is online! arxiv.org/abs/2512.04791

Welcome our new group member Lichen Ji, who recently got her PhD at Tsinghua University studying superconducting proximity effect. She joined us this month as a postdoc (shared with TQC Thin Films group) and she will explore chiral superconductors with molecular beam epitaxy.

All boxes are open, and the cryogenic dewar is mounted on the vibration isolation table. Now comes the real heavy lifting — time to settle the system into the pit!

(30 Jun) Today Dongming Zhao, our new postdoc who joined us earlier this month, gave an excellent introduction talk in TQC PhD and group seminar about his doctoral thesis on higher-order topological insulators. Welcome Dongming!

(19 Jun) Today’s the big day — our STM has arrived! 🥳
All 7 crates📦are now safely stored in the basement. Huge thanks to everyone involved, and a special shoutout to our technician Ole for making it all run so smoothly.
Unpacking will happen in a couple of weeks — stay tuned!
