It has indeed! Great to hear from you and nice to see you're still working in maths!

We had an assignment where we had to prove a number was irrational. After handing it in I found that all the other students had used a different method so I assumed I had messed up. Got the marked paper back from πeter with just a tick at the bottom and "Ingenious!" Best moment of my academic life.

He had this brilliant way of saying 3. He pronounced it "thray" and there would always be the tiniest of pauses before he said it as he knew all the students were waiting for it. It became like a little parlour trick.

He was a fantastic mathematician. Proved that Alhazen's billiard problem could not be solved with straight edge and compass, which was one of few problems left over from antiquity.

Reminder that 1) we need to cut fossil fuel emissions immediately and sharply and 2) even if fossil emissions were eliminated immediately, food system emissions could still prevent the world from keeping warming below 1.5-2C. So big changes to food production and consumption are also necessary.
Global food system emissions could preclude achieving the 1.5° and 2°C climate change targets
Concerted efforts to mitigate greenhouse gas emissions from food production are necessary to limit increases in global temperature.
