Just taking a moment to remember that when A J Ayer was working for the Special Operations Executive in 1941-2 he spent time in Algiers, and so may have passed an 11 year old Jacques Derrida in the street, maybe even kicked a football with him... #Ayer #Derrida

Very Freudian that, unlike other thinkers, if you disagree with some of the fundamentals of Freud you are accused of 'resisting' him. I disagree with some of the fundamentals of Hegel, but that's not 'resistance'.

Have spent the last couple of weeks reading Jorge Semprun's The Long Voyage (also translated as The Cattle Truck) and Literature or Life. Can't believe I hadn't come across his work before. Why isn't he spoken of among the greats? Or is he, but I somehow missed it...
