"The Duellists" (Ridley Scott, 1977) with Harvey Keitel and Keith Carradine. A story of one man caught up in another man's obsession, as they fight a series of duels through the years of the Napoleonic Wars and after. Keitel is an absolutely brilliant villain as the psychopathic Feraud.

"Der Rächer" (The Avenger), later cast of a 1914 sculpture by German sculptor Ernst Barlach (1870-1938).

Barlach's pacifism as a result of his experiences in WWI, and his Expressionist art (denounced as "degenerate"), led to him being persecuted by the Nazis.

In the Tate Gallery, ref. no. T00951.

"The Thing" (1982) did extremely poorly at the box office. For an estimated budget of $15 million, it grossed less than $21 million worldwide.

And it's a bona fide horror/s-f classic.

"Slattenlangpat" (lit. saggy-long-teat), a fae critter from Danish folklore. Described as having breasts that sag all the way to the knees, which she would sling over her shoulders to run, when fleeing from King Volmer's Hunt (the Danish equiv. of the Wild Hunt). Possibly once a pagan water deity.

Lunchtime: an example of how you can make smørrebrød (Danish open sandwiches) without fish, meat, or cheese. If you replace the butter and mayo with vegan alternatives, this is completely vegan.

Bodacious Space Pirates was the most wonderfully inconsequential but entertaining anime of its time. It was light-hearted fluff, but worth watching, and it's a shame that it seems to have drifted into complete obscurity.

Yeah, that's absolutely the entrance to Castelvecchio. I looked for photos that matched the approximate angle and showed the same features, and found these:

I have no idea what the point is, but if you search "half gloves", you will find that those are a Thing You Can Buy. Maybe to cosplay anime characters?

"Sanju Mariko" (傘寿まり子, "Mariko at 80") by Yuki Ozawa. The story of an elderly mangaka who runs away from her family to live in a manga café. Won the Kodansha Manga Award in the "Best General Manga" category in 2018. Total of 16 volumes, great manga.
