I work at the intersection of urban mobility, land use, and climate.

I occasionally post about Brazil, music, and football (the one played with feet).

Views are my own.

Brazil applies visa policies for different countries' citizens that are based on what those countries apply to Brazilian citizens (I misspoke about it being constitutional principle though): www.gov.br/mre/pt-br/co...

What's worse is that these puff pieces didn't even engage with the book on its own terms, which is that poor people and their "culture of poverty" are to blame for their lot in life. How did this guy manage to claim the populist mantle having written a book oozing in contempt for the poor?

I’m pretty sure the 11¢/kWh rate is *before* the 2¢ EV charging discount so it’s actually 9¢ overnight. Bananas.

The entire premise of the vice president’s book was applying discredited “culture of poverty” scholarship (previously used to pathologize African Americans) to explain the failings of poor white people. They even turned it into a Netflix movie!

Since 2023, SMUD has given me rebates covering half the cost of an induction stove, paid the full cost of a heat pump water heater, and covered about 60% of the cost to upgrade my panel to make my house EV ready. I also pay literally 1/9 the rate per kWh that PG&E customers pay. It’s amazing.

LADOT runs a pilot program for South Central residents out of a locally owned bike shop in Leimert Park funded through a State grant (full disclosure, I used to run that grant program). It's such a great idea: laincubator.org/southcentral...

I can’t bring myself to watch it but curious if he, the principled anti-interventionist, supports Trump use of a trade war against Brazil in defense of his fellow coup orchestrator
