one of the major relevancy advantages Twitter had over other social networks is that it wasn’t a walled garden - by maintaining the ability to view posts when not logged in it acted as a lingua franca of the social web.

Ooh, you've triggered a nerd trivia factoid! IPv7 came out in 1993, and was defined by RFC 1475 (https://www.rfc-editor.org/rfc/rfc1475.html). It was never widely deployed, and was formally deprecated in November of 2012 by RFC 6814.
