I used to run things like SublimeHorror.com and Oxford Writing Circle. These days, mostly coming up for air.
Having just finished The People’s Act of Love, I now fancy something a little more grounded.

I don’t often mix music and books, but fancied an accompaniment to tonight’s reading. James Meek’s The People’s Act of Love with Arvo Pärt’s Tabula Rasa works. I could probably soundtrack anything to Pärt.

Even images of nature have a positive effect. One study found that in 90 seconds, viewers of a forest image became physiologically calmer than those seeing a city. So if you can’t always immerse yourself in nature, you can at least surround yourself with it - wallpaper, paintings, and so on.

Last year’s Good Nature by Kathy Willis is the first book to compile various sources of evidence linking green space and wellbeing. All fascinating. While nothing was necessarily surprising to me, it was great to see this presented scientifically for the first time.

Since building my library (as I like to refer to it), it’s rather difficult to get everything in a single #shelfie. I’d choose a different angle but you’d see the mess I’ve strategically hidden.

It’s also no exaggeration to say there’s double this stacked in small piles around the house…
