It's further south, Andy. Northallerton / Yarm / Eaglescliffe then via either Middlesbrough or Stockton. There's lots of useful bits of track around there; triangles at Norton and Bowesfield / Hartburn.

We missed Killybegs (Donegal) and Dun Laoghaire earlier this year and we got $100 back (credit, not cash). Immediately spent it on duty free gin. Never knew that it was a potential claim.

Less than you think. My husband (then partner) retired 33 years ago from teaching aged 50. Never looked back. Less stress, less outgoings and having more time available, one of his hobbies turned into a business.
