The Steam Machine will live or die on its pricing, I think, but it's hard not to be bullish. SteamOS is fantastic and the Steam Deck has been my most-used gaming machine since it came out nearly four years ago

Saying goodbye to my Belgian cousin today over facetime. She doesn't have much time left. She had a brain tumor removed at 12 years old. At almost 50,docs just found 3 more. Yet despite a life of struggles, she's always been loving and kind. I think that's true strength. Being kind despite hardship.

This type of financial engineering was the exact red flag I needed. Insane behavior.

I’m glad I diversified out of Tech Heavy when I did.

It has literally always been this simple.

Great organizations communicate and listen.
The rumor I had always heard was that they hired a bunch of game developers and didn’t listen to them, which seems to be an ongoing trend.

Maybe someone should try making video games and trusting the people who know how to do it.
I legitimately didn't know they were competing with Steam and it's crazy to me that they burnt so much money on what sounds like something with very little (or wildly misguided) market research.

This voice line sounds so bad I legit would not buy the game purely because of it.

But also not guying for dozens of other reasons.

This sounds crazy but I’ve fully completed my backlog and I don’t think there are any major games left for me to play.

I may spend the next year just grinding indie games.

I feel like I’m going crazy.

Very real authoritarian Nazi power grab in the US Goverment.

Massive AI Bubble. Massive US Debt.

The rich white folks I know are worried about travel plans or buying a second house.

Is this really how it happens?

Genuinely starting to question leaving the country.

Someone I respect immensely, Tony Gilroy, described the current state of affairs as a tinderbox waiting for the match.

I unfortunately worry today was that match.

I’m worried what the far right will do in response to this.

Silksong is so damn amazing.

I’m getting annihilated in one boss fight but I can’t get tilted because the boss makes the most majestically pleasing sounds while frolicking about.

Never felt this mixture of hatred and childlike joy at the same time.

I’m all for giving people credit when credit is due but the credits show 3 core developers with a team of like 14 total contract developers and then almost all the other credits are for Voice Acting, Music, and localization.

It’s not wrong to describe this as a 3 person indie developer.

It’s pretty black and white for me.

People aren’t able to afford anything anymore so they resort to renting or subscriptions.

An economy dominated by rent seeking services where the only thing consumers can afford is cheap inflationary goods and services is an awfully unhealthy economy long term.
It's a healthy conversation to have, but consumer spending on subscription services is growing at a 20%+ clip versus a year ago.

Many players are looking for (and finding) value in subs. And given all the other macro market conditions atm, can you blame them?
