All ready with the wreath for the Peterloo 206th anniversary commemoration at 1pm today, Saturday 16 August.
The red, white and green reflects the flag used by English republicans in the 19th century.
We'd love to have less formal flowers, too.

We're glad to see this piece in CAMRA's magazine, announcing that our home from home, the Briton's Protection pub on Great Bridgewater Street, has been saved, with a ten-year agreement between the management team responsible for its unique and much-loved style and owners Star Heineken.

On the 250th birthday of Henry Hunt, the Radical politician arrested at Peterloo as a private militia plus the British army attacked crowds of campaigners demanding the vote, we must remember that the fight for democracy is unending, but we can't give up.

Members of the crowd read accounts of Peterloo victims, including Mary Heys, who died after giving birth (we were proud to have Mary's descendant Denise Southworth read her story); William Bradshaw, sabred and trampled by horses; and Sarah Jones, beaten with a truncheon by a man she knew.

Polyp, the artist who ran the @PeterlooMemorial Campaign, is launching his graphic history of the struggle for the UK vote on Tuesday - featuring Luddites, Peterloo, Chartists and Suffragettes!
All welcome at the Briton's Protection, M1 5LE, from 5pm onwards on Tuesday 25 June.

Save the Britons Protection, the historic Manchester pub which witnessed the Peterloo Massacre!
There's a gig on March 30 from 5pm to protest against Star Pubs' attempt to regain control of the Britons lease, spelling an end to their extensive whisky collection, the wide range of cask ales etc.

Today is the 236th birthday of Samuel Bamford, weaver, writer, poet and Radical. At the age of 31, he led the Middleton contingent to Peterloo, for which he was jailed for a year.
This is Long Street in Middleton, which was once home to Bamford and his wife, Jemima.
