Gotta say, I have zero faith the consumer/“actual people” aren’t going to get screwed by grocery corporations.

The line about how consumers won’t notice a few cents extra here and there really highlights that food insecurity isn’t in the media spotlight anymore…

Super interesting read, we need more people to realize how tenuous the grasp on our data is. Hard to get “management” on board with any of these solutions in a work context…
Incredible essay about the importance and challenges of digital archival by @maxy.bsky.social, as well as the various imperfect strategies to achieve “century-scale” digital archives.

I’d like some clarification from @bsky.app on whether they plan to introduce advertising.

An @npr.org profile in November said “Officials at Bluesky say it has no plans of ever relying on ads.” But last week, @jay.bsky.team told @techcrunch.com advertising hasn’t been ruled out.

Too bad for the paywall, but I hope this righteous indignation also flows for all the provincial premiers that have been playing this stupid game with our tax dollars as well. Printing all of these cheques is a lot easier than actually addressing any of the underlying issues…

I love that the rest of the world/fire departments look on in horror at this. I won’t ever cook a turkey this way, but having been part of preparing one in the past, the adrenaline rush is pretty great!

it’s kind of funny that all the globe can come up with is some whiny right-wing opinion that’s not even novel at this point. if you’re going to try to shit on bluesky, at least try a little harder.
Opinion - The problem with Bluesky: It won’t broaden our horizons: In the wake of Donald Trump’s election win, the social-media platform has enjoyed a surge of new users looking for an alternative to Elon Musk’s X. But will it be useful, if it just creates an echo chamber for the left?
