Hopeless romantic in 2019 believing that Lab and Everton could both come back from the dead.

I'll take 1/2.
"The legal status of the Chagos Islands & treatment of their inhabitants were the subject of negotiations by current & previous UK administrations. The negotiations retained the strategic base on Diego Garcia. C & P US admins expressed support for that outcome."

The embarrassment lies with Trump.

I support Everton FC. For over 60 years. Not one of the "fanatics" from Gladwys St, now populating the South Stand, nor a "super fanatic" in the safe-standing.

I do, however, stay to the end of all games, giving my support, I don't boo the team, unlike the majority of those I refer to. Gobshites.

@snellarthur.bsky.social appears to have shifted ground from rejoining to slowly, slowly, catchee monkey. He has seen the light.

Pity he doesn't have the courage of his convictions to allow replies.

Nor to credit Labour with doing exactly that.

The death of Billy Vigar is a tragedy. His family feserve every sympathy and support.

Knee jerk comments about perimeter walls are nonsense. The chances of such an accident are infinitesimal.

What are we going to do about goal posts? Will squash courts be lined with foam?

No single measure will bring a halt to small boat crossings, a phenomenon that surfaced as a direct result of BREXIT.

It will be small steps over time. The French deal and ID cards are part of a permanent solution.

No other political party has any rational plan to tackle such a complex problem.

HMG knew recognising Palestine would make no difference. So did various commentators screeching for it. They're now saying so. cf today's Guardian. Now they want condemnation of genocide. This again will make no difference to embattled Gazans. They epitomise the "something must be done" drones.

Top marks to the Guardian for the silliest political headline ever.

Unless, of course, Starmer sets out to make mistakes.

Observer has 5/20 pp devoted to men's footy, 7 if you count a 2 page spread on TV football.

A page filling fluff from Paul Hayward, a full page preview of shite v arse, 1 on the connection between Blyth Spartans and Viz.

2 full page reports on ...

Well, you knew it would be Manure and Chelski.

The US has been happy to provide a country with advanced weaponry to destroy a weaker adversary which has kidnapped 250 innocents.

It's President just shook hands with the President of Russia. Russian armed forces have kidnapped thousands of children, often after mudering their parents.

Merseytravel's response to the need to manage rail users leaving EFC home games, with 24 trains an hour using 1 platform, those heading north from the city already busy, is a dereliction of duty of care, in my view.

A second platform north of Sandhills Lane is an urgent & the only safe solution.

In the OT reading today the Patriarch, Abraham, engages with the Lord God of Israel who is intent on the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah. God agrees to foreswear the destruction if there were 10 innocent men.

Israel has destroyed Gaza claiming there to be just 40,000 Hamas in 2.1m innocents.

I am surprised that no opinion pollster has thought to ask if people believed that Labour would not raise taxes, etc.

It's barely 2 months since the UK espoused Europe's ambition to build a defence industry independent of an unreliable US "ally."

Govt has announced a plan to buy F35As & nuclear bombs from, erm, the US.

The US could prevent the use of either any time it cared to.

So much for independence.

The Mail is highlighting salaries in the NHS, describing those earning more than the PM as "fatcats."

300 earn over £200k.

N.B. Paul Dacre "earned" more than £2.5m in his last year as editor of the Mail.

Low skill jobs in manufacturing largely disappeared through automation.

How about those who used to put things together being profitably employed in disassembly & potential reuse of parts/ separation of materials into useful feeds for recycling?

A crushed car cube is a problem not a solution.

Is what is presented to me under "Discover" adjusted in line with my likes, blocks and mutes?

My complete disinterest in animals, other than what they taste like properly cooked, indicated by my l, b & m's, doesn't appear to be picked up by any algorithm.

The quantity and variety of SNP ish people banging on about independence on my discover timeline smacks of desperation.

Do they seriously think that this is the way to convince fellow Scottish voters that they have a case?
