Agree completely with your points and your tone, but minor quibble, On Newsnight last night, it said the mansion has 30 rooms, 7 bedrooms.

Minor quibble. On Newsnight last night, it said that the mansion has 30 rooms, 7 bedrooms. In no sense, of course, does this undermine or compromise the point you are making.

Sorry for the delay. Thanks for listening. I hope you enjoy.

Great post, except that the Blank Slate idea is incompatible with the evolutionary story of human existence. We are animals, and all advanced animals have what I call a "deep nature". An ethical stance requires that we confront some aspects of our Deep Nature. www.buzzsprout.com/admin/200190...

Exactly right! In the absence of personal knowledge of Trump, we have to rely on the testimony of those who do have that knowledge. And, overwhelmingly, according to them, Trump is transparently stupid, impulsive and uninformed. I suspect he bombed Iran in response to the "Taco" accusation.

Politicians are human too.

I might have compassion for a wounded war veteran or a hurt kitten. That doesn't mean I'd want to have sex with them.

I suppose there is a small compensation I'm that his legacy will.

I agree, I'm probably being unfair to scientists; nearly everyone does it. In animals, intelligence is used to decide the best way to achieve goals, but goals belong in the category of felt need. I just meant values in humans, as in other sentient animals, are derived from feeling not cognition.

Will they ever get it? Even the writers of this paper are hopelessly biased by their focus on intelligence. It is not cognition that counts most: it's sentience. If something doesn't FEEL important, how can it be important? Humans, even good scientists, see intelligence as a tribal identity marker.

It doesn't matter! What matters is that they laugh, mourn their dead, love their families, are capable of compassion cruelty and anger. In other words they are people. It's just that they are people in a different way to the way we are people. www.buzzsprout.com/2001904/epis...

Things keep changing so fast. It seems not so lucky, after all! He seems to be getting played more often than a typical Premier League football. ⚽️ Who'll get the next kick, I wonder?
June 24, 2025 at 2:52 PM
From what I understand about Trump, he knows nothing about geopolitics, and everything is about "ME". I think he dropped the bombs on Iran because someone called him a Taco (Trump always chickens out). He got lucky that’s all.

That's why we need my Awareness Horizon vision of the universe. It's how we can rescue meaning from what otherwise looks like meaningless.

Fascinating! Thanks. But even if this works, and it certainly might, I suspect that there is probably a massive difference between circuits composed of communities of living things, neurons, and what amounts to wires, logic gates and transistors. What we need to know is where feeling comes from.
