A time of joy and happiness for everybody. Apart from these two obviously.

Thanks to @wordsanddeeds.bsky.social for the news on this Great White Egret along Estuary Boulevard in Speke. Photographed with my phone from the car. Incredibly tame. This was the first bird that I twitched, back in 1981 at Penmaenpool when I think there were less than 10 post 1954 records!

Now, I'm not an arborist but I really don't think that this has been thought through.

An increase of over 30% for a smattering of AI twaddle that I won't use? Bollocks to that.

Think I've got on to the Sand Lucerne thanks to the below named too. This time in Sefton, South Lancs. ##wildflowerhour

One of my favourites for #wildflowerhour Spiked Speedwell, it took a long time for me to finally catch up with this plant. Quite surprised by how many plants there were.

Late for ##wildflowerhour with this gorgeous Araneus quadratus (Four-spot Orb-weaver) in a Wild Carrot seed head.

Left a Purple Toadflax growing in my South Liverpool back yard, hoping that recent colonist Toadflax Brocade moth would make use of it. Delighted to report that my cunning plan has worked.

It's been a while since I last saw Meadow Thistle. This one at Wicken Fen this week. #wildflowerhour

Stopped off at Wicken Fen after working in Essex yesterday. Yellow-loosestrife bee Macropis europaea has been on my 'wants' list for a while, look at the pollen baskets. The carrion beetle Oiceoptoma thoracica a nice bonus.
