We are not disputing the rules @westmidrailway.bsky.social but I hope you can appreciate the human context behind this incident. A little understanding in such circumstances would have gone a long way.

While we fully accept that this was her mistake and will pay the penalty fare as required, I am disheartened by the lack of compassion shown during the process. The situation was already emotionally taxing for her, and the experience of being issued a penalty fare has only added to her distress.

Think of them as reform flags, and there's your answer. People will say it's for patriotism, but I reckon it's for xenophobia. The far right do love to hang flags off everything.
