Corporate lobbyists can cheaply access politicians in private, while peaceful public protestors face harsh penalties.

Really shows whose voices our governments think should be heard 🤔

Joseph Stiglitz, Nobel Prize-winning economist, says the fact Australia gives away its natural resources is "mind-boggling".

"If you made them pay for the value of the resources and their fair share of taxes, you wouldn't have the problems that you have today." #auspol

Libraries matter more than ever now! They embody a beautiful & brilliant idea that we must never stop defending. The idea that knowledge is free & belongs to EVERYONE. We all need to support our libraries & librarians - especially when people seek to ban books & free thinking. #libraries #books

Latest monthly CPI of 2.1% shows that Australia's inflation has come down faster than in the US and Canada - thanks to the govt bringing in measures like the electricity rebate.

It is a very good reminder that leaving inflation to central banks only to fix is idiotic

It’s kinda rare to find drawings on clay tablets from ancient Mesopotamia. This one shows a drawing of coils — maybe intestines — on one side and cuneiform signs on the other.

Assyrian and Babylonian diviners had to “read” sheep intestines for signs of events to come www.penn.museum/collections/...

Climate Change:

It's real.

It's us.

It's serious - and already dangerous.

But there are solutions.

The science is clear: the faster we cut emissions, the less suffering we will cause, and the better off we'll all be.

There was a time I couldn’t have imagined putting Twitter/X in the same part of my memory where I discarded AltaVista, floppy disks and smoking inside a hospital. Yet here we are.
