A reminder that municipalities must manually adjust tax revenues every year. They cannot borrow money and run deficits.
Whereas, income tax revenues (and similar taxes such as sales) automatically increase with inflation.
Therefore, every year, we see municipal tax "increases" but not provincial

NEW: 2024 has just been confirmed as the warmest year on record, and the first to breach the 1.5C threshold.
We used a ridgeline (Joy Division inspired) chart to visualise daily temperature anomalies since 1940.
2024 clearly stands out with 100% of its days above 1.3C and 75% above 1.5C.

Hamilton Police just released their 2025 budget project.
The actual increase is 10.89 percent.
Police will use one-time reserves to artificially lower the tax impact to 5.7 percent, with the 5.19 percent reserve gap automatically added to the 2026 tax levy.

I spent entirely too long figuring out an issue with an ansible script and trying to automate something new when I remembered that Claude exists. For a non-coder like myself it is amazingly helpful in getting these things working.
