Miami Review of Comics has been really solid. I don't get to it very often but New York Comics & Picture-Story Symposium on youtube is good too

Shota looked great even with the walks! Amaya with clutch double is very encouraging too. I'm a little worried about the defense from the young guys but we'll see how it goes!

Beautiful. So much more menace in the redraw. The little shift in the foreground characters's posture 👌🏻

If anybody knows how I can get my hands on children of go illustrated pamphlets, please (PLEASE) let me know.

Noah Van Sciver is probably your best bet. Although I think he's already done a book about the Grateful Dead. Brian Blomerth might work too if you're okay with everyone being dogs. I doubt Max Clotfelter would sign on but his style is probably what you're looking for too.

Do you know how his translations compare to other translators working off material from the same era?

I do wonder if there's a peculiarity to the time period? For example, there's a particular flavor to the writing in golden age American comics. It's not all the same writer, and there's certainly variation, but it's all got a similar clunky quality.

Great point. The only thing they all have in common is the translator. I appreciate your perspective. I feel like I'm able to form my own detailed critical thinking with the artwork in comics, but taking a detailed look at the writing doesn't come as natural.

Maybe it's because I'm not a great writer on the prose level either, but I've often appreciated his work for the same reason you take issue. As I understand it, a lot of his awkwardness is designed to mimic the awkwardness of the original text. His work on Ebisu Yoshikazu's comics is a great example

Yeah I'm in the same boat. I missed a couple shows due to covid and it wound up being very very expensive. Gonna Trina get some more work done in 25 and get back on the circuit in 26.
