I agree that the vision of AI, what's being sold as the truth of it to C-suite types who will happily RIF large percentages of their workforce based on the promise of AI, may be ideally suited to replacing the folks who built it.

But the truth is, "AI" is nowhere near living up to the promises.

intelligently, of course, but I won't promote Newsom until he fixes those problems. And honestly he probably won't. He's such an operator he knows he doesn't have to take care of all of us, and he's clearly choosing not to.

It reminds me of the problems trans folks have had with LGB(T?) organizations, being asked to step back from campaigning for our causes so the rest can make more progress. Being asked to promote Newsom even though his politics on unhoused folks and trans folks is often rank? I will vote ...

HomeKit and HomeBridge, Windows, macOS. Philips, Nanoleaf, Sonos, Nest. Stuff is aging out, becoming unsupported. H/w not as durable as advertised. It's neat, but not reliable. Features disappear.

Hmmmm.... whatever could it be?

Amanda Palmer clearly was aware.

You are saying I said "immediate". I did not. I said it's ethical. We get to it when we can. You are right to respond to pressure but it's not directed at YOU and it's not coming from ME.

We let them in because they're charming and likeable. The worst person (to me) was my love and also my abuser. Second worst was my mother, who groomed me to love people like that. It took a lot of work to get out from under those thumbs. Strength to you as you do the work.

There's no ownership implied to say that it would be ethical to have and express strong opinions about one's abusive friend, even if one just found out about the abuse.

He thinks I am a substandard primate.

Yeah it's possible that our collective luck will break towards more fortunate numbers. But I'm not gonna pray on it. I'm gonna try to use masking and infection protocols.
January 4, 2025 at 1:23 AM
Surgical masks will not be sufficient. You'll want N95 masks, the real 2 strap deals, from 3M, not KF or KN95s. If you can stand it, P100 elastomer respirators will be better although yes they're hot and uncomfortable and you can't exercise in them but it's better than being dead.

The moderate infection controls you learned to survive COVID won't entirely save you but they will probably help. Do wash hands frequently. Do isolate and avoid crowds.
January 3, 2025 at 3:49 PM
So we'll likely be on our own for H5N1, relying on the medical services only after we get sick.
January 3, 2025 at 3:49 PM
Of course modern infection control protocols could help immensely but unfortunately most of the public education and services infrastructure we had established for that was looted or fucked over by the capitalists who didn't allow us to handle COVID properly.

We see this kind of response among "fragile" allies and accomplices who never really had any intention of helping in the first place, and lazy people looking for an out from responsibility they never wholeheartedly accepted. Go find someone who truly cares. It isn't us.

Yeah. I'm not focusing any energy on reforming the people who happily vote for whomever propaganda tells them to.

Time for the Hogfather, sounds like.
