Pitchers simply do not consistently throw complete game shutouts, which is the only situation where crediting a pitcher with a win would make sense. Instead, we track their individual wins-losses for some reason, despite the fact that the vast majority of the time it's completely out of their hands.

the absolute worst thing about my birthday being tomorrow is that baseball is still in the offseason for like 4 more months and that sucks
that said, i guess if that's the main thing on my mind beyond all the usual noise i guess i'm not doing too badly
