Just discovered this book - Tales of London Town - a Joan Aiken I hadn't heard about - and ordered it from @manderleypress.bsky.social. Stories about an undiscovered London and Joan Aiken - what's not to like.

I have just received the most beautifully packed copy of this and spent a very happy hour in the shade reminding myself of the brilliant @rosemarysutcliff.bsky.social. It was her books and Joan Aiken's books that made me want to write for children. Thank you @manderleypress.bsky.social

So finally got house back to myself after building work and now the wonderful SOOT TIGER picture that @hobslantern.bsky.social created after reading TIGER HEART @hachettechildrens.bsky.social has pride of place in the hall so EVERYONE sees it. London brick dust and chalk and Thames silt. Amazing.

went to Silk Roads exhibition at British Museum yesterday - thought it was touching that whatever wonderful craftsman carved this thought to say thank you to the whale from which it was made.
