I'm gonna want another ramp up tomorrow, and may add "just learn to play through the rudiments" to my practice if that day 2 pacing is the norm, but holy hell rock drums are a blast.

Which is not me complaining. That pacing is perfect for me. Please just give me something a little too hard and trust me to catch up. Then because there was so little new in day 2, I had plenty of space for warming up through all of the first skills.

Sure day two was closer to ten minutes, partially because I had that aforementioned dental thing, but mostly it's that it was only adding one extra complication, whereas 1 wanted to teach at a minimum count 4 unique drum skills.

I came to this with a decent grasp of the underlying concepts, and I am pretty good at learning a certain kind of skill. Everything went very smoothly for my first day of practice, but my man it was a solid 2 hours or so before I was confidently playing the final exercise.

Generally I like this set. But I can not express how annoyed I am at the click baity framing of "Ten minutes of practice for ten days and you'll be a drummer."

I've found a drum instructor whose pacing I like -- first one was a tidy 12 minutes and gave me a stacked set of four skills to build on. Second video tied back into those well.

So, naturally the way I'm approaching percussion first is through rock and roll, more or less because it feels like my least likely instinct--not that I don't love rock, and rock drums, I'm just still very timid about making sounds. Rock drums are definitionally loud.

I'm on day two of spontaneously deciding to become a drummer, and it is coming together for me shockingly fast. I've heard that it's easier to learn your third language. This seems to hold true for instruments.

So, we picked up a basic 8 piece edrum set on a black friday sale at Guitar Center. It's been an "eventually" item for a while, and I'm very easily talked into "now" in such cases. A fact that Elizabeth uses almost exclusively at guitar stores.
