Oh yeah, I don't come to Doctor Who for narrative consistency. It's very similar to old mythologies in that way, lots of cool stories that might slightly conflict with each other but that's not the point, just enjoy the ride!

It wrapped up the immediate story and left some room to follow-up if they go that route, which I think is a pretty good way to do a finale.
