It's the ultimate 'tell don't show.' Yet, somehow, it completely and totally works, to the point no one ever complains about it. It's a really interesting choice - I can hardly recall seeing anything like it anywhere else, yet I also can't imagine it any other way.

But just so far, nearly every child we've gotten to know has been subjected to events that would traumatize anyone for life, horribly murdered, or both. I wouldn't watch if I thought these subjects were inherently off-limits. It's the lack of buildup & tact that makes it feel trashy and exploitative
