The first Thursday of every month I host an online Death Cafe from 6-8pm Pacific Time.

This is open to everyone who is interested in listening and sharing about the topic of death. Each from their own unique wisdom, without advice giving nor cross talking.

Newton is the dog who has been living with me for close to two years. He has lymphoma, and is getting closer to death. He is seven years old.

Earlier this week I thought he was done eating/drinking and moving around. He has rebounded a bit, which is an example of dying not being a linear process.

Käthe Kollwitz has been my favorite artist ever since I discovered her work. If you are not familiar, the theme is largely death and grief during authoritarian oppression. I have been thinking about her work recently and this one stands out to me the most at this time.

Tip for making the gym more fun while learning about after death care. Specifically, how to go about it in a more natural and connecting manner.

One resource is “Green Burial Guidebook…” by Elizabeth Fournier. Borrowed a digital copy from the library and started reading it on the elliptical rig.

Our dad commissioned a local artist to weave his coffin before he died. The artist invited us to her studio to take part in the weaving as a family. It didn't feel morbid. It made his dying feel more familiar. I collected Dad's coffin. Dad sat with it & said it was a thing of beauty.

This is my first post! I’m a bit slow to catch on to new stuff, and have been busy adapting to Substack, largely obsessing over the news.

Also finding other wonderful creative death and grief stuff. It’s written by Chloe Hope via her Substack Death and Birds:
