Looks like the Mets signed another former Yankee (Weaver, a reliever). Already saw one joke posted about the Yankees being the Mets farm team, and got a nice chuckle.

Was wondering if my apple cider had somehow spoiled quickly, as it had an off taste. Finally looked more closely at the label and realized I accidentally bought "apple pie" flavored cider. Which... oof. Do not recommend. Had a weird off flavor that reminded me of maple syrup somehow?

Whelp, can't say I'm shocked that Pete signed elsewhere (Orioles for 5 years/$155m). Mets will definitely look/feel different next year regardless of the moves they make. I'm assuming not "rebuilding mode" since we're paying 2 stars in their prime a ton. "Re-arming" as a more hopeful view.

Me: this random song is really good. Who is it? (Duke Ellington + Coltrane). oh. yeah, that tracks.

Bummer, just lost family bragging rights. Geneseo just fell in the NCAA d3 soccer tourney to Middlebury. A bit crazy last 10 minutes, so that was fun.

Looking forward to the official 1.0 release for Timberborn, but so far looks like some of the new buildings/mechanics have some teething issues on the experimental build. And yes, that's a beaver pun.

Weird how it can feel colder inside when the wind outside is loud and gusty. A metaphor for something, I'm sure.

Finally cancelled Prime last week, and then today they effectively cancelled New World. Can't get further away from this company, toxic from the top down.

I guess the good and bad of a long-awaited New World update + announcement that it's now "free" for people who already paid for the original game (no longer need to buy the expansion) is that a lot of folks want to play so it doesn't look like I'll be able to sign in the game tonight.

Ziplines and tubeways in Timberborn are just so satisfying once they're setup. Ziplines a bit more fun in having flexible and changeable layouts, tubeways with the advantage of building through them. Really curious what next release will bring. 400+ hours and still pre-release, ha.

Was thinking of switching to an iphone, but just tried to sign in to my account and it's locked for no apparent reason and need to jump through hoops. Reminds me of why I didn't early on; security theatre for doing anything.

Ah, the good and bad news of them replacing the corner sidewalk 20 feet from my house. It'll be nice when it's done, but today they're ripping up the old concrete and... it's loud.

Ah, internet comments. One person lambasted me and misread what I wrote (to put it nicely). Another person gave a thoughtful comment that clarified what I was saying and was actually useful. I mean, 50/50 is actually pretty good so I'm not complaining. Too much.

Bad enough work machine has been flaky; go to Photoshop on my rig to process some family photos and it keeps locking up. At some point I'll be productive this week. Garden seems to be doing okay, at least.

Made the mistake of reading the comments on an article about the Mets recent/ongoing slide. The line about Mos Eisley in Star Wars came to mind.

Sometimes you get the opposite of a "this meeting could have been an email" and instead you get "this email is going to turn into many meetings" and I kinda hate the person who egged everyone on.

The new AI-voice spammers are somehow even more annoying (didn't think it possible) than humans reading from a script. I think it's the lag. Not that I want them improved, I want zero spam.

Nice to be able to have the a/c off and windows open (without worrying about smoke/ozone). At least for one day!

Getting vague "not working" reports for over a week on a given page was driving me nuts. Finally got some same codes where it wasn't working (yay!) but also where they still were (YAY!). 2 lines fixed in fewer minutes, having something to compare/contrast was huge.

Really need to clear out my old bins filled with antiquated cables, gadgets, etc. Some might be keepers. Just found my old car tape adapter that let me plug in my mobile CD player. Not used since at least 2001. What else will I find???

Someone on the internet either agreed with me or was really snarky. With no /s marking their intention, I'm going to assume they agree with me wholeheartedly.

Oof, an old friend's machine is stuck in a BitLocker loop and will probably have to do a clean Windows install. Assuming they don't switch the Linux in anger.

The news might be a shit show, but just picked (and ate) first peas from the garden so that was nice.
