Given this week’s events Assad's regime is finished & it’s a race to Damascus. The Russian position in Syria, and MENA region writ large is consequently in deep trouble, because of Syria’s importance as a logistics hub for Russian operations. Short thread. 1/

Rebel forces have only 15km left south of Damascus while also coming from the north. They captured the 128th Brigade base and are closing in on the 14th Special Forces division base in northern Damascus countryside. Nasiriyah military airport is also close to this area.
