Today, I convened a group of former military generals and veterans to hear perspectives on deploying troops in American cities.

Their commitment is to our nation. That’s why they’re speaking out against what the President's doing as uncalled-for, unprecedented, and un-American.

You have to hand it to the generals. Unlike so many other people in this country, they know how to conduct themselves in public. They know they are supposed to be apolitical. So they greeted Trump's political speech with silence. And you could have heard a medal drop when Pete Hegseth finished.

Mark Mackinnon has a story in the G+M today regarding Russian dissidents/ asylum seekers being deported by the U.S. back to Russia- to a predictable end. They are asking Canada to hear their claims and possibly accept them here. We should.

Two stories today in The Guardian; one detailing the abuse and harassment women endure for simply running in public, and, two, a story of attacks on women’s rights in Argentina. These stories highlight a global assault on women’s rights.
Women are the most targeted ‘minority’ in the world today.

Public pressure has forced Israel to open corridors for supply trucks.
How much confidence can we have that they will actually follow thru on this? Certainly recent history does not inspire confidence.

Tomorrow is a big day in European sports-no not the Belgian Grand Prix. Spain takes on England in Euro football Championship. When you think of how far womens football has come in a few short years-especially Spain-it is amazing. So despite my English heritage, I will be cheering for the Spanis

PM Carney says cuts must be made in other areas to fund a 5% defence budget. This 5% number is coming from the US, which isn’t currently spending 5%, and particularly from Pres Trump. I am very reluctant to accept matching orders from this President-especially when it means cuts to social programs.

At the St Petersburg Economic Forum-attended by few of consequence but providing Putin a bully pulpit, he has declared that Ukraine is Russia’s. So I am trying to understand how anyone (Trump), can possibly believe there is avenue for negotiations? NATO meets next week-it must reinforce Ukraine.

@kateinkharkiv.bsky.social Your situation is getting more dangerous by the day-be as careful as you can in a war zone. I appreciate your work.

Regarding the pushback over the question for Cross Country Checkup. While you can disagree with the question, personal attacks are unacceptable and reflect poorly on the poster. CCC is my background while preparing the Sunday meal-keep up the good work.

Trump is not even in power we are already spinning our wheels on how to respond to him. I have no answers to this, but I am sure that Canada cannot respond effectively if the next Parliament is as dysfunctional as the last. Can I trust Poilievre to make the transition from pit bull to statesman?

I joined Bluesky to get away from Twitter and all that came with it. First day, Elon musk requests to follow me or at least a Musk bot does. Next I get the same requests to follow from women (again bots). I hoped Bluesky would be different but first impressions aren’t good
