Indeed. Anyone who thinks taking Donbas would satisfy Ru doesn't understand the war. Donbas isn't special to Ru. Ru could annex the parts it controlled in 2014-2022 but didn't, instead it hoped to use them to control Kyiv. Pu wants all of Ukr as a step towards retaking as much of Europe as possible.
