I am an assistant professor at the Czech University of Life Sciences, specializing in the ecology and taxonomy of insects. I have a passion for photography, data analysis, R, and forensic entomology
I like this one, but for application I would use specific papers or tutorials. Don't overthink the data too much. I was surprised recently that the species I was interested in occurred on the island it was not supposed to be. So if my beetle data are not in the middle of the sea, I am keeping them.

Thanks for the link. It was an interesting read, although my view of the issue is more basic. I would be happy if more ecological studies did not discard the larval material due to its problematic identification and used methods that allow them to be sampled in the first place.

Sorry, for making you to elaborate. However I find your post even more interesting. I had no idea about color vision of bumblebees.

That might be true just for the honeybee. 😁 There is a planty of other bees, which might see red. And if not, butterflies will.

Oh, that's convenient. Sadly my experimental animals are not in this category... #carrionbeetles

Could you please add me? I work on the applied interpretation of thermal biology data within the forensic entomology framework. However, I would love to connect with others working in the more theoretical part of the field.
