Theatre artist, among other things, doing the best I can in NYC.
With a name like Aftyn Behn, the Democrat party might as well have run a candidate named Hakeem Barack Hussein Maduro II. Time to lock her up.

Imagine the immediate congressional and public outcry if this or anything similar happened under a Biden DOJ. Demands for resignations and prompt, bicameral and bipartisan investigations. Impeachment proceedings. But, alas, this is just a Wednesday in Trumpland.

The cruelty is the point, and it’s sad to see the Court is on board with, no, INSTRUMENTAL in making sure people go hungry. It may not happen, sure, but somehow that makes this decision feel worse. They’re showing that they would actively choose hungry Americans, if the shutdown were to continue.

they're going to go right for the meat and potatoes: gutting voting laws and disenfranchising millions. No need to mess around with small stuff like this when they can ensure Democrats don't ever get elected again.

He's... he's a "doctor"? There's no way he lacks basic understanding of insurance. I refuse to believe he's this unintelligent.

Doesn’t the government have to display that it is being harmed in order to even have a stay of the order? In what world is disbursing monies that are just there, ready to be sent out, a harm to the government? They are running a giant sham of a government, and hoping we’re too stupid to notice.

We’re never getting #GTA6 😭

If there’s no direct evidence, then there can probably never be any direct evidence of selective prosecution. I just can’t really fathom a more clear case. They talked about retribution, out in the open.

They still haven’t the slightest clue what they’re doing.

Wait, upon further review: I think Harry is saying the opposite 🥲 been a long day.

That is, the President is allowed to say there is a rebellion, and that he needs to use the military (especially, here, the National Guard) - and he is the final, and only, authority on that. Courts can’t step in and say, no, the President is wrong

This could be disastrous for obvious reasons.

§12406. National Guard in Federal service: call
Whenever-

or
(3) the President is unable with the regular forces to execute the laws of the United States;

I think what he’s saying (speculatively) is that a challenge to section (3), above, is not within the Court’s purview.

I wish I could be as optimistic as some. But I think this just increases the likelihood that SCOTUS takes the case, and then the inevitable will happen. 6-3 vote in favor of Trump.

About 40% of this country sees this and says “good” or “this is okay.” And the remainder is split: those who will vote to stop this, and those who can’t be bothered to help fix things at home because they are more concerned about posting on social media about how anti-Israel they are.

This is exactly what the GOP wants. Speaker Johnson, well before the shutdown, even talked about the possibility of eliminating federal courts.

With the current balance of power, yes; however, I was thinking more along the lines of a scenario in which the balance of power switches so far leftward, that such a "Reconstruction 2.0" could even be feasible. At the very least, it would take another Great Recession to trigger such a switch.

A full-on Constitutional Convention seems unlikely, but there better be some big-time amendments coming down the pike.

They’re gonna have to rebuild the whole thing. He’s just testing the waters. He’s doing whatever he wants and no one’s stopping him. The entire White House could be gone this time next year.
