That’s a great question! Just in Time has a chance with the smaller budget. I’d be delighted to see Maybe Happy Ending or Death Becomes Her recoup (but it could take a couple years).

Thus far, 6 Plays have recouped, but no musicals. Although musicals typically take years to recoup. This season, Broadway saw another regression with the trend of Musicals closing after a short run.

Additionally, these original movie musicals won Best Picture: The Broadway Melody (1928-29), The Great Ziegfeld (1936), Going My Way (1944), An American in Paris (1952) & Gigi (1958).
