This would no doubt have included my Mom, who worked and went back to school after the divorce with my Dad, and was able to do so grace of food stamps.
Trump on SNAP: It really puts the country in jeopardy. People who are able bodied who can do their job—they leave their job because they figure they can pick this up because it’s easier—that’s not the purpose of it

This reminds me of those loaded poll questions.

Um, can anyone provide a link to what exactly the deal entails?
This deal to reopen the government is fucking disgraceful.

Tens of millions will lose their healthcare. Trump will be emboldened.

This is exactly what’s wrong with Democratic Party leadership and why we need more people in Congress who will actually hold the line.

Did I wake up in Bizarro Universe? First, 1 of the oldest univs. in the world, the College de France, under pressure from Zionist orgs and its own ministry, cancels at last minute a colloquium on Palestine in the interests of 'freedom of debate.' Then a fund. Christian US gov bans prayer meetings
“.. During the call, which took place with a Block Club reporter present, the anonymous representative told a group of faith leaders and activists that ‘There is no more prayer in front of building or inside the building ..’”

Ironie du sort; une des panels s'apelle "Silencier les voix Palestiniennes..." www.college-de-france.fr/sites/defaul...

I've been looking at the actual program of the planned colloquium; you can find the English version here: www.college-de-france.fr/sites/defaul... And 'quelle ironie'!; one of the panels is on "Silencing Palestinian Voices."
November 10, 2025 at 1:27 PM
This is incredible. he College de France, the oldest u. in the world, has cancelled a conf. on Palestine & Europe organized by Henri Laurens, 1 of the world's most respected & objective M.E. specialists. 2nd time its cancelled a Pal-related conf. @annetteyorks.bsky.social , @johnghoakes.bsky.social.

Let's hope ageism like @kenklippenstein.bsky.social's will soon be also.

Leadership. This guy needs to retire and make way for the new generation.
Asked if he voted for Cuomo or Mamdani, Chuck Schumer replies: "Look, I voted, and I look forward to working with the next mayor to help New York City."
November 6, 2025 at 11:41 AM
"Democratic leaders, by & large, did not have his back until the last minute." This can't be said enough. In fact, they did the opposite of what any smart person would have done: put their money on a winning horse or here a winning vision. There really needs to be a putsch of Dem Party "leadership".
The entire right-wing propaganda machine came after Zohran Mamdani.

The president and his allies came after him.

Democratic leaders, by and large, did not have his back until the last minute.

He still won, turning out historic numbers and inspiring young voters.

His politics can win anywhere.

In anything.
Good things are possible and we don’t have to settle.

Or in DJ-speak -- n'est pas, @dougwendt.bsky.social ? -- Pump up the Volume.
“TURN THE VOLUME UP!”

Banger of a line from Mamdani
November 5, 2025 at 11:27 AM
Mamdani: So hear me, President Trump, when I say this: to get to any of us, you will have to get through all of us.
November 5, 2025 at 11:25 AM
THIS is the future of the Democratic Party. All Schumer and Jeffreys need to do is get out of the way and let it flourish.
Mandani: Too many among us have turned to the right for answers to why they've been left behind . We will leave mediocrity in our past. No longer will we have to open a history book for proof that Democrats can dare to be great.
November 5, 2025 at 11:25 AM
This is what Trump is afraid of, and this is why they are locking up Brown people in the last stand of the Angry White Man.
If you’re wondering what the future of the Democratic Party looks like, watch the young, brown democratic socialist on the TV right now.
November 5, 2025 at 11:24 AM
Mamdani: "We can respond to oligarchy and authoritarianism with the strength it fears, not the appeasement it craves. After all, if anyone can show a nation betrayed by Donald Trump how to defeat him, it is the city that gave rise to him."
November 5, 2025 at 11:23 AM
It may not be as sexy as the Mamdani victory, but in a way it's this type of victory that is more important, in the long run....
November 5, 2025 at 11:22 AM
Extend this to America.
Mamdani: "New York will remain a city of immigrants, a city built by immigrants, powered by immigrants, and as of tonight, led by an immigrant."
November 5, 2025 at 11:21 AM
Where's John Roseboro when you need him?
Newsom: Just today in Los Angeles, Donald Trump called up the border patrol, sent them to dodger stadium and threw a fastball at free speech right at the head, free expression to suppress the vote
November 5, 2025 at 11:21 AM
"Donald Trump does not believe in fair and free elections." It's also the megalomania: He does not believe he can lose.
Newsom: He said this election was rigged and he's moving to look for criminal prosecution. Donald Trump does not believe in fair and free elections . This is not complicated and it's self-evident to anyone paying attention
November 5, 2025 at 11:20 AM
Let me revise that: As always, California and New York set the pace....
What happened here in California tonight is a victory for the people of this country.

Donald Trump’s attempts to rig the midterm elections are backfiring.

His attempts to silence you are backfiring.

His entire presidency is backfiring.
