I love this from Teju Cole. Part of the reason fiction (and cinema) connect is that his bridge analogy is how life works as well. Keep building bridges!

Teju Cole's writing is so good at undercutting realities in a barely perceivable way. In Tremors, of the 31 pgs I've read, it's all third person, except for a run of four paras where he shifts to addressing "you", as a character involved in the story, then shifts back without revealing anything.
