Make telly, Announce on telly, Watch telly. Lover of Doctor Who and Victoria Wood... interspersed with tea and cocktails. 🏳️‍🌈 he/him
She's Been Away is another of his works with a brilliant turn by Peggy Ashcroft. He often loves telling his stories in two different timelines.

He writes with an eye to how he's going to direct, which means everything is pared back and told with simplicity and an air of mystery... which I find really draws me in.

I've been a huge fan of his work since watching Caught on a Train when I was child. Peggy Ashcroft was brilliant in it.

Bruce Forsyth first appeared on television in 1939, on a programme called 'Come and Be Televised" presented by Jasmine Bligh.

In what I can only believe is a scheduling coincidence, last night's 2nd episode of All Creatures on BBC Four (approx 8 mins in) featured a storyline around television transmissions starting at the Holme Moss transmitter.

...a wonderful piece of BBC history lives again. This unit was last used on-air in 2012 for DSO! (2/3)

Oh, that's rather fab. I didn't know there was an S4C version.

It is a standout performance. Once seen, it stays with you for a long time.

Another in an occasional series of 'celebs I've interviewed' (this time at the Divorcing Jack charity premier in Belfast)... the only other detail I remember are his eyes.

Thankfully not, he'd been dead 4 years by then.

I interviewed him once... at a charity tap-dance-athon in Belfast.

It certainly was. I was on duty for the power cut the previous year too 🤣

Ohhhh, I was the announcer / director on BBC One Northern Ireland that night... I left the pres suite to get chocolate from the vending machine... and came back to find Red Corner had fallen off air due to the power failure at TVC. Great fun.

Yeah it was a great video! I've just subscribed, thank you for sharing.

It's a nicely put together video, which also highlights one of the issues about that logo... its simple elegance was deceptive... and led people to recreate it rather than use the actual logo. Even in this video the actual logo doesn't appear until 7 minutes in... instead we get a recreation.
