1926. KURUTTA IPPEIJI (Crazy Pages). The bad boy of early Japanese film, Kinugasa Teinosuke, was a film oyama (female impersonator) before turning to directing. His NICHIRIN (The Sun, 1925) was censored on charges of “national blasphemy.”
