Deputy Speaker laying into the government over Budget leaks, which given the events of the past hour seems appropriate... #Budget2025
November 26, 2025 at 12:35 PM
Obviously, quite a lot of the Budget had been leaked by the Treasury, not least the Minimum Wage rise that led the news last night. But the leak is still amateurish and humiliating, and completely takes control of the narrative away from the Government.

Has anyone checked whether members of the Cabinet have placed bets on the number of idiotic pre-Budget blunders, and were one short? #Budget2025

We are less than two weeks out from the Budget and its central proposal, one the Chancellor has spent time signalling and explaining, is being scrapped. If you wanted to create an impression of absolute chaos, this is exactly what you would do... www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2025...

The BBC has apologised to Trump for the editing blunder in Panorama, but turned down his audacious demand for a payout. It’s a familiar grift for Trump, shaking down broadcasters for cash…

Trump’s got his apology, hopefully he won’t succeed in extorting vast amounts of money (directly from the pockets of the UK public). This is becoming a monthly grift — shaking down a broadcaster, though it’s new to target those outside the UK… www.paulosbourne.net/latest/the-r...
Who’s to blame for the BBC’s latest crisis? In part, you. — Paul Osbourne
The row over the editing of Donald Trump's insurrectionist January 6th 2021 speech has forced out two top BBC leaders. It's also put rocket boosters on those determined to nobble the corporation.

Whenever the topic of now-former Prince Andrew comes up, an early question is "how has he not been kicked out already?" Now that he has, the question has changed to "why did it take so long?" www.paulosbourne.net/latest/andre...

I haven’t watched #bbcqt for quite a while, and it really is as shouty, pointless, enraging and generally awful as I had feared. All heat, no light. Ragebait as a TV show, its effectiveness presumably judged purely on how many angry tweets it generates.

It’s an odd game, covering the news in one country for audiences in another. From the other side of the world, one question I keep getting asked about the Prince Andrew affair is why he hadn’t been ostracised many, many years ago…

“The two main criticisms of Johnson are that he is a) dishonest and b) lazy. It was arguably uncharacteristically diligent of him to have provided such clear evidence of both within the first 30 seconds.”

Much to discuss in this week’s international news round-up on ABC Radio later.. Prince Andrew’s unending awfulness, Donald Trump piloting a shit-dumping plane (albeit in his AI-driven fantasy world), and a genuine scandal in the world of British chocolate biscuits..

It’s just Donald Trump’s luck - you end countless wars (including ones that never actually started), get featured on the cover of Time Magazine, and the lunatic left-wing media make out you’re a jowly old man who’s losing his hair. Of course, you respond with Presidential dignity…
