The British public are clear:

It’s time for those with the broadest shoulders to pay a fairer share of taxes.

There’s a lack of self awareness and then there’s this.

The byline may more accurately read:

Former Conservative MP & chancellor FOR 38 DAYS, who tanked the economy and drove up mortgage costs for millions to give tax cuts to the super rich.

Most definitely ‘out of his depth’.

A reminder: The ‘costs’ of the employment rights bill include giving low paid workers the right to sick pay from day one.

How many execs or senior managers in the big outsourcing companies who signed this letter have to worry about paying the bills if they take a day off sick?

Last week this political chancer was an expert on steel.

Now he’s an authority on special educational needs.

This isn’t about what’s best for kids.

It’s about what’s best for Reform’s poll ratings.

A gentle reminder that the arc of history doesn’t always bend toward justice.

Child labour making a come back in the richest nation on the planet.

I’ve just come back the West Bank where I spoke to the PGFTU Congress. I also met 🇵🇸 workers & unions, politicians, human rights defenders & Israeli unions.

We need a renewed & lasting ceasefire & a safe, secure 🇮🇱 and a safe, secure, free 🇵🇸.

I’ll post more over the next few days.

‘It’s definitely politically motivated’

Not the casually expressed hope that someone should murder the Mayor of London

Or the racism.

Or the misogyny.

Politically motivated 😐🙄

And of course his excuse is ‘mental health’…I think Charlie would normally ascribe that to ❄️

🚨Non-serious post alert: Blast from the past photo of me and the new PM of Canada (a staunch Evertonian as you’d expect of a man of good character)

If you look carefully you can see the ceremonial @evertonfc.bsky.social mug I presented him with. I’m sure he still has it 🤣💙

Really enjoyed spending a couple of hours with @srtrcengland.bsky.social @evertonfc.bsky.social @tucnorthwest.bsky.social & dozens of primary school children talking about how we challenge racism in football and society.

To be fair, the questions were pretty tough!

Inheritance tax was paid on just over 4% of estates last year.

I won’t have to pay it on my estate.

Odds are the overwhelming majority of people reading this won’t pay it.

I tell you who will though.

Rupert Lowe, his mate Nigel, Richard Tice & the rest.

Self interest much?

Weirdly James Dyson is less scathing about the impact on the UK economy of those who choose to offshore manufacturing jobs and relocate their head offices to the far east.

🤔🤷‍♂️

Rest easy Telegraph readers. I know this will come as a disappointment to many, but - spoiler alert - Britain is not under union control 😂😂

However, the leader of the opposition is definitely taking her talking points from the world’s most unhinged billionaire.

Shopping voucher scheme used by Civil Service - and thousands of other employers - fuelling ‘luxurious’ lives according to Taxpayers Alliance.

More luxurious than TPA chair, asset manager Rory McGregor?

Or TPA’s top funders?

Maybe they should publish a list so we can check? 🤔🙄

Beware of Billionaires bearing gifts this Christmas…

Behind the bonhomie & blokey man of the people cos-play is a a straight up agenda of deregulation, privatisation & tax cuts for the rich.
December 24, 2024 at 7:05 AM
The best present the government could give working people this Christmas is the delivery of the Employment Rights Bill, in full.
December 20, 2024 at 10:49 AM
Who do you think would benefit most from a flat tax rate?

🤔
December 17, 2024 at 8:00 AM
My 2024 lowlights…

Tax-dodgers cosplaying as farmers.

Public school boys saying they’ll stand up for hard working Brits…then voting against improvements to workers rights.

‘Entrepreneurs’ defending their right to unfairly dismiss people.

Lee Anderson fought in the Battle of the Somme apparently.

I mean, I know he’d like to go back to a time before women had the vote but this seems a stretch even for him.

Privilege to join @nujofficial.bsky.social members for the first journalists’ strike at @theguardian.com in over 50 years.

Time for management to seriously listen and engage with their staff about the future of the @observeruk.bsky.social

Great to be in a packed Council Chamber at the @the-tuc.bsky.social to develop and shape our work on tackling racial injustice and fighting the far-right.

I am sure Elon Musk’s mooted $100m donation to Nigel Farage’s Reform is entirely motivated by his deep love and concern for the British people.

*gif instantly dates me 😜

Good to host @bankofengland.bsky.social governor Andrew Bailey at Congress House today.

We shared with him union views on the importance of higher pay and secure work for boosting living standards and growth.

Headline translation: Multi-millionaire who bought farm to take advantage of tax break, upset he will lose tax break. 🤷🏻‍♂️

The same newspapers who scream increases in the NMW will damage the economy, are happy to go to the barricades for a tax break for Clarkson, Dyson & friends.
