I'm interested in too many things and have been on the net since Compuserve provided access (75110,2422).

I block Crypto booster accounts, accounts with no posts and anyone who is not offering rational conversation
I tried Mastodon when it first opened up but found it too full of irrational ACAB people slamming a favorite charity so I gave up on that service

Since the first one bore little resemblance to the novel, I was hoping for a better adaptation that sounds like a miss :-(

The science/skeptical blogosphere was all over this topic nearly 20 years ago. I even wrote a short post that links to some of that commentary. (warning haven't checked recently so some links may be dead now)

Expertise is real and it matters
The title of this post is a quote from PZ Myers at his blog Pharyngula from a few months ago. I’m reminded of the time a creationist tried to invite me to a creationist geology talk – t…

I'm looking forward to it being available around me in southern New England some day.

There is nearly zero public transit within 15 miles of the MA-RI-CT tri-state border area. Uber/Lyft can take hours to pick up out here so they aren't very useful for the cost.

The domestically produced pastas (e.g. Prince, Barilla USA) will almost certainly raise their prices enriching the companies shareholders on the backs of lower income people.

Could also invest in $WELX, owner of the US made Prince brand

My sister and I revived a tradition about 10 years ago when I moved in to help her out. Every Wednesday it's pasta, salad and garlic bread cooked by the two of us just like it was 1978.

If either of us forgets and asks the other one what day it is on a Wednesday, the reply is simply Anthonyyyyy!

I love seeing Barred Owls here in the eastern USA where they evolved but they are an invasive species in the western USA.
They need to be controlled to protect not just the NSO but also other flora and fauna, that we don't yet know much about, who's existence is inextricably linked with the NSO.

They mostly hang around their favorite fishing spots, where the waves crash on the rocks.

Breeding range is the whitewater streams of northern Canada and they migrate south to fish our warmer rocky Atlantic shores :-)

Hiked around Beavertail afterwards and there was a bunch there too.

It really makes no sense to me. I think of vibrant as a compliment not an insult.

Over the decades the Sierra Club has made quite a few statements that got me scratching my head and being glad I never joined them.

Most of the restaurants I go to have removed the prices for all steaks and most other beef, they just say market price now. Only the chains still have fixed prices.

Veal seems to be an exception, prices have not budged around here, probably due to local sourcing and the usual low demand.
