Q: If you steal someone's "world's best thief" trophy, does that make you the world's best thief?

A: No, because the world's best thief isn't the world's best defense against thieves.

If you lived in Los Angeles in the 60's, KHJ was a significant part of your soundscape. They would sometimes throw concerts at the Hollywood Bowl featuring the bands that got a lot of rotation.

If the above is giving you fond memories, or if you just liked popular singles-based bands from 1968: […]

Someone should create a professionally-designed sign that says

Your ego must be this fragile to board the ride

with a holder for a replaceable piece of spaghetti underneath. There are some meeting rooms where I could imagine posting this outside.

Most of my followers here are techies, and thus the following article won't tell you much new, but y'all might know others who wonder how the Iranian government can "block the Internet". The article is quite readable by anyone interested, and the conclusions simple even for non-techies to […]

I am confused why stock brokerages don't make transactions for "at market price" don't do those transactions on the weekend if they can. People who make buy or sell orders at market price on the weekends assume that the Monday market price will be quite close to the closing price on Friday.

If […]

Dear Jerry: I apologize for being so pissed off at you 30 years ago. I am grateful for what you left behind, and it has taken me until today to really embody that thankfulness. We both are fortunate that Phil and Bobby carried on so well.

Mama, Mama, many worlds I've come
since I first left home.

Fare you well, fare you well
I love you more than words can tell
Listen to the river sing sweet songs
to rock my soul.

Here’s some things that can be done by a party out of power

- file impeachment articles every day in the House

- withhold unanimous consent in the senate and filibuster every nominee

- be everywhere with comms saying this is lawless and impeachable

Just watched “Strange Journey: The Story of Rocky Horror” and am very much in the feels. It’s as much Time Warp as it is I’m Going Home.

If you are at all following post-quantum cryptography (as I unfortunately have to for $dayjob), you want to read this. Even if you don't understand the math she uses (this will apply to lots of us), you can still likely follow the overall logic.

Bonus: it's by Brits who know food but have never had a Thanksgiving dinner. The other episodes of the podcast are pretty good as well.

TFW you want to look at your VM hoster's tickets that you have open, but they have messed up their web PKI so badly on the weekend that you get net::ERR_CERT_AUTHORITY_INVALID; the hilarious side-effect of this is that means you can't even open a ticket to tell them that. (Looking at you […]
