We visited Lighthouse Cove and explored Mitchell's Bay yesterday. It was very windy and Lake St. Clair was rough. Even the #loons stayed off of the turbulent waters and spent the day roosting in a snag. #mitchellsbayontario #mitchellsbay #lighthouse #lakestclair #shorebirds

Collecting beachglass & watching shorebirds at Wheatley Community Beach, then to The Caldwell First Nation Pow Wow. It was their first ever Competition Pow Wow and marks a historic milestone. Congratulations! #lakeeerie perch for dinner. Thankful for such a beautiful day. #beachday #powwow

Blessed #lughnassadh to those who celebrate. Happy #harvest of the grain to those who do not. We all eat and I'm #thankful for the bounty of the earth today, and to all the #farmers and #agriculturalworkers who bring it to our tables. #lammas #wheeloftheyear #sunflower #sourdough #corndolly

Despite some beautiful prose and insightful observations about the natural world, this book was a slog to get through. Thoreau's sanctimonious and preachy tone is very off-putting. Frankly, he's a bit of a jackass. #booksky #classicliterature

Yesterday, we spent the day in Colchester to escape the city and the heat. Collecting shells, watching shorebirds and digging my toes into the sand made for a perfect day of rest and relaxation. #sundayfunday #beach #beachday #summervibes🌴 #waves #wanderlust #lakeerielove #colchesterontario

I love Blue Jays! 💙 They are bold, intelligent and great communicators. Surprisingly, this one loves almonds just as much as peanuts. I gain so much peace and joy from my morning coffee with the birds. #bluejaybirds #backyardwildlife #backyardbirds #urbanwildlife #birdfeeder #birdfeeding #squawk

The yucca plant is often associated with protection. And with its sword-like leaves, I understand that. But looking at its seed pods, I wonder why it's not also associated with fertility? Ha, just a cheeky moment in the garden. 🍆 #gardening #flowers #garden #plantsky #bloomscrolling #phallic

We had fun yesterday at an antique car show. Neither of us are passionate car enthusiasts but they do have great raffle prizes every year, a fun vibe with 50s music and friendly people eager to share their hobby with you. #antiquecars #carshow #windsorontariocanada

A northern azure #butterfly that found itself in my greenhouse; occasionally a wild bee or butterfly gets in. This one went straight for some clover to feed and then on with its day. What a sweetie. ❤️ #butterflyrelease #butterfliesofontario

Bee Balm (Monarda fistulosa, Wild Bergamot) and the bees. This plant comes as advertised, the #bees do love it. So do butterflies, moths and hummingbirds.

Tarot by Tina Gong. I picked this up at a yard sale and would recommend it to anyone wanting a straightforward guide to the #tarot. It's formatted nicely with colour illustrations and thorough explanations of each card. #booksky #usedbooks #dailytarot

A beautiful chonky baby that I just brought home from a thrift store. In perfect condition, over 600 illustrated pages of inspiring storytelling from around the world. What a bargain! #booksky #mythology #coffeetablebooks #thriftedbooks #usedbooks #myth #history

Our first #monarch eclosure and release of the season. It has been a slow start this year which is concerning since this #butterfly is now endangered. Planting #milkweed and other #nativeplants will help these beauties recover. #monarchwaystation #monarchbutterfly #pollinatorgarden

My brother's birth flower, larkspur, on his birthday.
He was lost in a work accident over 20 years ago. He was my only sibling and I still miss him so much.
I did not plant this. I'm not going to speculate here where it came from, but it's welcome.

These lemon balm shortbread #cookies went down perfectly last night while I was #moongazing. The stems were thrown in my pot for tea. Yum. Recipe: www.ediblewildfood.com/lemon-balm-c...

It's a love story! The shrub was very easy to start from seed but it took 4 years to flower for me. Now waiting to see if hummingbirds like it too. Reportedly, they do. #bloomscrolling #nativebees #nativeplants #pollinators #pollinatorgarden

Beautiful Lake St. Clair yesterday, on the hottest day conceivable. A snag backed by the most incredible blue. I collected some sort of freshwater mollusk and some pheasant feathers to craft with. #ontariolakes #canadiansummer #feathers #summervibes🌴 #sundaydrive

I love when two #milkweed leaves grow together into one big heart. 💚 It's making an extra large meal for this #monarchcaterpillar. This fat cat was hatched from one of the eggs in an earlier post. Almost ready to pupate!

I've been watching this inchworm for the past couple of days. Her whole world is an #echinacea flower. And the #nativebees come and go, sipping nectar and gathering pollen. I love the life that this beautiful lady supports. #nativeplants #pollinators #pollinatorgarden

A Great and Terrible Beauty by Libba Bray. I didn't know this book was YA when I picked it up in a thrift store but it was thoroughly engrossing. Set in India, a Victorian English girl's school and a magical realm, it has strong #feminist themes that I didn't expect. Daily tarot draw. #booksky

We had a great time @artinthepark_windsor . I look forward to this event every year, to see the work and passions of #localartisans . A cute little #mushroom dish came home with me, bought from a potter, as well as some #localhoney and a candy apple. #supportsmallbusiness #buylocalart #buylocal
