Some silent Lon Chaney in Phantom of the Opera with a couple of great musicians soon. Cannot wait!

The Halloween Mystery Movie double bill at Eden Court, Inverness last night was An American Werewolf in London and Bram Stoker's Dracula.

I loved Diane Keaton. Always spectacular.

The Mystery Movie at Eden Court, Inverness tonight was 1995s punk Tank Girl. Lori Petty is superb, great to see Naomi Watts. Absolutely kick ass soundtrack. Real '90s energy. On a fantastic looking 35mm print. Long Live Film 🎥

Finally finding out just how good the Armageddon DVD commentary is. Ben Affleck is indeed an absolute hoot.

Telescore app is giving me the football results the way I want it. Just a shame my team aren't doing the same. One for you @robertcoghill.bsky.social

Sneakers has always been my favourite Robert Redford film. He had such an easy movie star charisma, that glint in the eye. Always looked like he was having fun in this film. Alongside such a spectacular cast, which showed he was a true collaborator.

Currently programming the Inverness Film Festival. Thought I'd share four of my favourites from over the years.

If you fancy seeing the, almost, full list of titles check out the link. We've been lucky to screen some really great films.

Always late to the games - but this movie pyramid one is fun.

Was in Nairn tonight to listen to the Interstellar score played on the organ by Roger Sayer. Was outstanding. Haven't watched the film since 2019 at the BFI IMAX on 70mm, brought back that wonderful screening.

Matt Dillon showing some real style. (Memories of Underdevelopment was one of the first films I programmed, in a short Cuban season, with I Am Cuba and Strawberries and Chocolate)

Day 31 - The Man From Majorca (Sweden/Denmark, 1984)

The final Augheist film for this year had to be an all time great. Starts with a perfectly executed post office heist, which then becomes one of the finest police procedurals.

I'm screening The Quiet Girl tonight (Eden Court, Inverness at 7.30pm if you want to come along), and I made the mistake of watching it at 10am this morning. Will now be emotionally compromised for the rest of the day. A truly beautiful film.

Day 30 - Lupin the 3rd vs. Cat's Eye (Japan, 2023)

An absolute blast. Cracking theme tune and credits, rips along and the Cat's Eye sister crew are fantastic.

Nice to see Pointless getting into #Augheist (heist films through August). The second answer down was a Pointless answer.

Day 29 - Sausto (A Loaf of Bread) (Czechoslovakia, 1960)

A very small heist, the largest of stakes. Jan Nemec's short film about three concentration camp prisoners needing to steal a loaf of bread before trying to escape is taut, sparse and exceptional.

Day 28 - Supermarkt (Germany, 1974)

The bleak heist. A genuinely excellent film.

Day 27 - The Great Van Robbery (UK, 1959)

Kicks off with a perfectly executed heist. The robbers trade off the currency. 30 months later and some of it turns up in Rio, and a Scotland Yard detective kicks off a decent police procedural. Cheap B movie, but nicely done.

Day 26 - The Sticky (Canada, 2025)

TV series about a great maple syrup heist. (*Spoiler - it doesn't end on a cliffhanger, it ends halfway through the story. There's a difference. Some good stuff, but a sticky unfinished mess - like too many 🥞)

Day 25 - The Brain (France/Italy, 1969)

Bit too broad, but kinda fun. Cracking theme tune. David Niven rocking the French.

Day 24 - Bank Robbers: The Last Great Heist (Argentina, 2022)

Documentary about a bank job in Buenos Aires. My kinda heist; through the sewers, dig the tunnel and hit the safety deposit boxes. Proper old school work.

Day 23 - Dhoom 2 (India, 2006)

The main cop is so dull, he sucks all the energy out of the film when he's on screen. Some fun dance sequences. Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan are fabulous together.
