I think you've summarized it very well. I've let my frustration with a process that has gone on since before Pete's FA boil over to no avail and now I'm trying to just relish the memories of one of my all-time favorite #Mets. I'm heartbroken for my son who idolizes Pete. Wish it hadn't come to this

I’d like to see the Mets be proactive one way or another & put an end to the drama that has hung over Pete for several seasons. IMO it has tainted what was a good relationship. That doesn’t mean overpay. Optically it looks to me like we could have been a bit classier about it, despite his opt-out.

In full transparency, I can’t take the emotion out of it. I love Pete and he’s my son’s favorite player. I feel like he bleeds Mets and belongs and succeeds in NY. I would not have signed him over Soto. I think they compliment one another.

You know way more about hockey than me. I do stand by my eye test on clearances.

Fair enough. My Kochetkov fandom does not make me blind to his shortfalls. He’s always had some space out moments - like last season’s center line goal. But they seemed better disguised when we were scoring and his winning percentage was high even if his save percentage was average.

If we could effectively clear the puck I think we’d create less chances for opposing goals - soft or otherwise. Puck management has been very casual and poor. Too much blame on goalie and not enough on position players IMO.

Thanks for replying. Concur he’s given too many easy ones up. Growth opportunity. Would still like to see us manage the neutral zone and clear the D zone more thoughtfully.

Adam, I first want to acknowledge my bias as Kochetkov fan who hopes he earns the starter's crease long term. I agree there have been some stops you'd like to see him make. But the poor puck management creating 2:1s, odd man rushes and high danger is a parallel culprit IMO. What are your thoughts?
