Look every city has its status games:

In LA, it’s how many followers you have.

In SF, it’s how cracked your developers are.

In Hong Kong, it’s where you live: HK island or the other side?

2024 has been the year of my renewed interest in TV shows, and man I’ve discovered some golden nuggets.

Dropping my top 3: 3) Baby Reindeer, 2) Fallout, and 1) True Detective Season 4 (the amazing mood in Alaska where it’s night most of the time)

That time of the year in Hong Kong when I wear sweatpants and a hoodie at home cuz it's freaking freezing. (I live in an old building with no insulation, but the rent is cheap, worths the sacrifice..)

Honestly, no matter what you read here, Bluesky still has a long way to go before it gets interesting.

Most of the cool creators, influencers, and tech moguls are still hanging out on X, where they’ve built their communities and connected with their peers.

Look another Hong Kong myth: Shopping for groceries at the supermarket may not save you money unless you can prepare enough for minimum 2 meals.

Yes, I can give you an extra 5 tips to save money in Hong Kong:

- The cashback with your Octopus card every 16 of the month (If your transportation fees > 300HKD)
- Buy one get one free for your 7/eleven coffee every Monday, same at Circle K every Friday

Ok since I’m getting questions regarding my previous tweet (You can live for cheap in HK), here is how I would do with a 100HKD daily budget:

- 7/eleven coffee: 16HKD (10HKD with the 7/eleven app
- Lunch: 28HKD, 2 dishes rice
- Dinner: 55HKD Meat plus rice at a Dai Pai Dong

For sure, Hong Kong is pricy as hell but truth is you can live on a low budget pretty well here, you just need to know the right spots/tips/people.

Someone knows a tech-savvy sista who loves coding and talking SaaS/startup here in Hong Kong?

Most of the women I meet are into fashion, wellness, sustainability, or sports.

Any nerdy who’d rather dive into Swift and JavaScript than teach yoga?

In Hong Kong, hiring a full-time employee should be a last resort as your business grows. The main reason is the freaking high cost involved (and don't forget about MPF contributions).

It's way better to consider options like AI, remote workers from South Asia, trainees, or part-time employees.

Guys I write a freaking masterpiece: "Better Read Paul", a weekly newsletter focusing on Hong Kong's founders.

Each week, I interview local entrepreneurs about their journey and business insights.
