I was a little disappointed with Patrick O'Brian's Thirteen Gun Salute but soldiered on with The Nutmeg of Consolation and Clarissa Oakes which were both excellent. Nearing the end of the series now and on the whole an extremely enjoyable journey.

I enjoyed An Evening With Adrian Tchaikovsky in Nottingham last night. Got a signed copy of his new book Shroud, and free beer which was unexpected and very welcome. Thanks

Just finished Lords of Uncreation by Adrian Tchaikovsky, the conclusion of The Final Architecture series and I'm blown away. Fantastic storyline, great characterisation that was hard not to get invested in, some amazing sci-fi concepts. Would recommend. 📚🪐

Currently reading Eyes of the Void by @aptshadow.bsky.social. I read Shards of Earth over the past few days and felt compelled to launch straight into the sequel. Enjoying the series very much, at least as good if not better than Children of Time. 📚🪐

Currently reading The Thirteen Gun Salute, the 13th book in the Aubrey/Maturin series. I've lost track of some of the characters and not sure if Abdul is dead or if so why he was killed. Maturin's natural history trip to see the Orang Utans was nice though. My least favourite O'Brian so far though.

After reading and thoroughly enjoying Adrian Tchaikovsky's Children of Time series I decided to read everything else @aptshadow.bsky.social has to offer. Then I looked at what that was! I've added 20 of his books to my wishlist and that's not all of them. He must write faster than I can read. 🪐📚

Currently rereading the fifth book in Jasper Fforde's excellent Thursday Next series: First Among Sequels. I want to get up to date before the release of the 8th book in the series in November 2025. 📚🪐💙

What to read next? Jack and Stephen are comfortable for now so the world is my oyster.

I intended to read one of Spike Milligan's war memoirs after finishing Patrick O'Brian's Reverse of the Medal but Jack and Stephen were left in such uncomfortable predicaments I've started reading the next in the series, The Letter of Marque, instead.
