The big surprise is the UK at the bottom with -17%. The report does not speculate about the reason, maybe more will go to live in the UAE with Mr Pimlico Plumber!

At the very top of the wealth pyramid just 14 people are estimated to be worth $2tn, very approximately the same amount as the poorest 1.4bn people.Half the total wealth is held by 1.5% of the people.

The wealth inequality ratio is borne out by the distribution of USD millionaires where the US has 38% of the global total.

By calculating the ratio of Median to Mean wealth we can approximate the Wealth Inequality – where the rich are very rich, and the poor are very poor.
According to this data the UK is better than I expected in this respect, but all countries are far from the ideal ratio, 1

Plotting the mean against the median on a scatter chart allows us to see that the US and Spain have very similar Median wealth but very different Means.Netherlands and Belgium have similar Means but very different Medians.

When considering Mean wealth per person Switzerland leads the way – this is the country’s total wealth divided by the population.The Median wealth is the value that divides a population’s wealth in half – each half contains the same amount.
