I appreciate this analysis re: support for equalization, year after year after year.

We all pay the same federal tax rates, and #equalization helps every province keep government supports more consistent no matter where we live. It's a very Canadian thing, IMO

#Winnipeg city councils have, since Murray, made Winnipeg one of the most under-funded cities in Canada.

From @bpincott.bsky.social's Substack, Winnipeg is running on less than half per person than the fair comparator city of Edmonton.

Authoritarians have to disrupt trust in institutions that they can't control.

"According to a survey carried out last fall by the Pew Research Center, the American people trust scientists far more than the federal government."

So they are undermining scientists.

My final contribution to #WorldPhysio2025 is this morning, in Hall B7-1 in the 915 am block: The trouble with weight (stigma): from weight-centric to health-at-every-size physiotherapy.

We share findings from pur narrative study comparing #HealthAtEverySize physios to those without that background.

My first #WorldPhysio2025 presentation today is a discussion of valuesin guidelines. Discussions are for contentious issues; I'll be bringing a #CriticalPhysio perspective to the panel, relying heavily on STS scholars to do so. 1430, in Hall B5

It'll be more lively than the description sounds!

It is manipulative politics for the #Conservatives to say one thing in French but remove it for the English version of their platform.

Ok so during this election, Poilievre keeps claimingrthat Canada's GDP growth is the poorest of the G7. It's the kind of claim that made my spidey senses tingle.

TL;DR - best I can tell, Poilievre is straight up lying #elxn #cdnelxn #cdnpoli

2) that people vote for the party not the candidate: this is how we elect some truly terrible MPs. I know; I used to live in one such SK riding held by a horribly racist Reform MP.

Fingers crossed that, if the Conservatives keep him as a candidate, voters in the riding refuse him.

Best thing I've taken in so far to help me unpack the present: The Ezra Klein podcast episode titled "this Trump Speech was the Ultimate Loyalty Test".

I'm finding it hard to write "happy international women's day," given the hard news in #Winnipeg this week in terms of #MMIWG.

But International Women's Day was born of strength and protest, and that is the core of what I'm embracing today.

And here I thought the secret signal of the resistance was canning! (Whoops, maybe that's the super secret sect signal)

December 6th is akin to a holy day for me. 1989 seared me deeply: a sexist, entitled man killed 14 women for just pursuing their dreams, in a violent anti-feminist mass murder.

Hello #NAPCRG !

Tomorrow, I'm co-leading a workshop for novice or qualitative-curious folks on the variants of thematic analysis.

We aim to address both jargon and common missteps we see as peer reviewers.

In Toronto for #TIFF for my first time since 2017. Day 1 had an uplanned themed: what happens within a family right after a death.
