Minimum-entropy text is literally the exact opposite of good writing, which should be surprising! Humans still excel at creating great prose, which hovers at the border of coherence and chaos, insight and madness, in a sort of inverse uncanny valley which yet eludes LLMs.

But good writing must be about something worth writing about, written in a way that makes it worth reading. "AI" can't help you create ideas worth sharing; that's on you. And since it's deliberately trained to write the least interesting prose of all time, "AI" slop isn't worth reading.

And look, I get it. It's hard to write. I've been trying my whole life and I feel I've only just gotten to the point where what I write is worth reading (or performing, in my case). And I already use a computer to manage text, right? So I understand the temptation.

I found it interesting that some companies experimented with (maybe still are) underwater data centers, but the value prop is much clearer there - improved/cheaper heat dissipation, better site security.

I saw Sam Altman, purportedly a very smart person, get up on stage and tell people that once we had AI, it would solve the climate crisis for us. And my thought was, "exactly ... how?" But a ton of people clapped and cheered and shoveled money into his pocket, so I suppose I'm actually the idiot.
