When I was a kid, my family had a set of "Golden Book Encyclopedia," published for kids c. 1960. A few nights ago, I had an urge to look for the encyclopedias I vaguely recalled from my childhood, and what do you know, I found a set on Etsy! They just arrived and boy am I thrilled!

Sure, I can get weed and alcohol delivered, no problem. But if I want *nasal decongestant*, I need to go to the pharmacy, show ID, and sign a form, and even then I am only allowed to take one box. Thank goodness the government is protecting me from these dangerous drugs.

Most over-the-counter decongestants today contain phenylephrine, which is not effective. In the 2000s, lawmakers restricted access to pseudoephedrine because they believed it would be diverted to the manufacture of methamphetamine, and pressured the drug manufacturers to substitute phenylephrine in most of their products. However, legal restriction on pseudoephedrine, just like the substitute product phenylephrine, has not done what it was meant to do.

They had an old IBM card punch machine set up and I have punched this card with the text, "I AM SO OLD THAT I ACTUALLY USED TO DO THIS TO WRITE PROGRAMS", which is true: my high school taught programming with punch cards long after they had become obsolete. Consider that at the same time my friends already had Apple IIs and Atari 800s (not me, too poor). I guess that also proves how ancient I am.

Name a NON LOTR character who could resist the one ring.
The Tick (comic book version). He has a big grin on his face and he's saying "Oooohh, SHINY!" which is probably what he'd say if he saw the One Ring. But he's so pure-hearted, dumb, and nigh-invulnerable, he could probably hold it and even wear it without succumbing to its power.
